My Auspices Dr. Kurt Frisch - University of Detroit Polymer Institute .This dedicated and imaginative scientist has demonstrated leadership in the field of polyurethane chemistry and applications for three decades. His work has covered a full spectrum of polyurethane science with a pioneering spirit and creative flair. Dr. Frisch has more than a score of US and foreign patents dealing with polyurethane chemistry. He has been a prolific author involved in the publication of more than 160 scientific papers and 24 books, most relating to polyurethane chemistry. Vienna-born, Dr. Frisch hold's degrees from the Universities of Vienna, Brussels and Columbia and has provided outstanding service to industry and academia. He is former director of Polymer Research and Development at Wyandotte Chemicals Corp (now BASF Wyandotte) and is founder (in 1968) and director of The University of Detroit's Polymer Institute which is heavily focused on Chemical Engineering and polyurethane research and education. Dr. Frisch has made a truly significant impact on the polyurethane industry on every continent.
My Auspices Dr. Shulamith Schlick, Professor of Physical Chemistry, teaches graduate and undergraduate Physical and Polymer Chemistry (lecture and laboratory). Her research interests include morphology, phase separation, and self-assembly in ion-containing polymers and nonionic polymeric surfactants; electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI) of transport processes in polymer solutions, hydrogels and polymer-supported catalytic systems; degradation and stabilization processes in polymers studied by ESR and ESRI, and transport of solvents through elastomers and glassy polymers.
Dr. Schlick received her D.Sc. from Technion, Israel institute of technology in 1963. She has held visiting professorships and appointments worldwide and has authored over 200 scientific articles, one book, and book chapters. In 2007, Dr. Schlick awarded the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Medal from the Polish Radiation Research Society for our work and the University of Detroit Mercy Distinguished Faculty Award for our work.
